Project Description
This is our next project and will start construction in 2023. The site is at 474 Timberlane Road, Courtenay, a 1.62 ha (4 acre) square lot that includes the biologically significant Morrison Creek. The location was chosen as it is ideal for passive building and PV solar.
The concept for the houses is two identical 170 sq m (1,800 sq ft) homes. The plan calls for mass-timber construction using cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels and wood fibre board exterior insulation. A ground-mounted solar array will service the homes, and in an in-ground “earth tube” system will be used to supply conditioned air to the homes year-round.
We also plan a living roof, passive solar hot water, rainwater capture, and heat– recovery from grey water.
